What we believe

The convictions that shape the work.

Scripture, the gospel, and partnership with the local church. Six commitments that explain how Hope58 operates and why.

Foundation

Scripture and the gospel.

The Bible is the foundation of everything we teach and the standard for everything we do. We hold Scripture as the inspired Word of God, faithful and sufficient for instruction in faith and practice.

The gospel of Jesus Christ, his life, death, and resurrection, is the hope we share with every pastor we train, every student at the Skills Center, every child in the preschool, and every supporter who partners with the work. That gospel shapes how the programs are designed, who leads them, and the kind of long-term fruit we pray to see.

Then your light shall break forth like the dawn. Isaiah 58:8 (NIV)

Five commitments

What guides our work in Bulesa.

These are the convictions visible in how Hope58 actually operates, day in and day out, in partnership with the local church.

01

Christ-centered in every program

Bible training, vocational skills, and early education share one foundation. All three are rooted in the same gospel, and discipleship runs through everything we do.

02

Word and deed together

Following the example of Christ, we share the gospel in word and in deed. Teaching, vocational skills, education, and compassionate care belong together, not in separate compartments.

03

The local church leads

The Ugandan church and Ugandan staff are the primary actors in the work. Outside supporters partner with what God is already doing through faithful local leaders.

04

Discipleship multiplies

Pastors are trained to disciple others. Skills Center graduates are equipped to lead in their communities. The work is designed to multiply through trained local leaders, not to depend on outside staff.

05

Built to last for decades

Long-term ministry takes long-term presence. Multi-year curriculum, ongoing mentorship, and a steady presence on the campus in Bulesa are how lasting fruit grows.

Pray for the work

Pray that God would be glorified in everything we do, and that our team's hearts would be renewed and refreshed for the work he has put before us.

Pray for the Actis family

Matt and Shelley have four daughters growing up on the field. Pray they would thrive spiritually, emotionally, in school, with peers, and in family life.

Pray for Bulesa

Pray for the pastors in training, the students at the Skills Center, the children in the preschool, and the local church leaders who carry the work forward every day.
